[QUOTE="Hellraiser, post: 440410, member: 1657"] First of all, I didn't know racism was such a critical issue in Malaysia that some people would use that to justify a point to what seemed to be an exchange of opinion. i mean, what in the world possessed this person to think that Malaysians are racist? Racism, at its simplest form - discrimination based on race - qualifies but does that require this smart alec to tell us something we are not? Is there violence, massive prejudice or oppression going on in the streets? I mean, how many of you consciously only befriend people of the same race, or would only share a bus with people of the same skin colour? It is human behaviour to be a little biased sometimes, but I'd like to think that in those instances, we could easily be biased against others from the same race as us. What is most worrying is that using "racism" as an excuse to justify ones personal agenda. Just sharing my thoughts again, by calling others racist, are you not in fact creating racism that may not have previously existed...creating more discrimination among fellow Malaysians in the process? While I understand perfectly the "1Malaysia" concept the gomen is promoting, is this really something new? There was no name for it then, I'm not sure but what do you call a situation when Ahmad, Samy and Ah Chong sitting together over a cuppa teh tarik sharing racial jokes? Let's be honest....we do that all the time and this was way before the "1Malaysia" concept came out...and if this is not called racial harmony, then it must be "1Malaysia" before the "1Malaysia" was ever thought of. I mean, do you really need people to think of these things? Dunno about you guys but the gomen just insulted my intelligence. Last when I checked my IC it says Malaysian. Thats good enough for me and I don't need to prove anything more to my fellow Malaysians. Seriously, to have this fella who hardly comes into the forum to suddenly pop-up and addressing an arguably non-existent racial issue comes across as ...i mean.....are YOU serious??? On another note, do we really need this someone to tell us we should love and appreciate all that the gomen is doing for us? Are we not allowed to have an opinion what we feel is not so right?
