FOCAL TEST CD

Hi everyone, I heard one of the sound system test CD at KL today.., i think is something like for testing sound system make by Focal..any one has it? :dunno: I was told is very rare and difficult to get in MA, he got it from one of the ICE sifu from Singapore..Or Van, any lubang for this CD?? :nyehehe: :nyehehe: Thanks....

Focal makes tonnes of reference CDs ... both for ICE and home application - remember that they are an extension of the famous JM Lab brand. I've heard a few of their discs and they are really super stuffs but with a price tag. Can you find out which one was it that you heard and I'll try to ask the boys in SIN to check out the prices and availability.

While on the same topic, does anyone has or know where can I get a copy of Alpine's Speed of Sound Reference CD ? It's a rather old disc and getting it may not be possible .... just hoping that some kind soul will say "aye" to my curiousity ...

Victoria Music (Sg Wang and Amcorp Mall)
The hifi shops at City Square, Ampang Park, OneUtama.

I got my Focal CD from Victoria (Music, not Secret's)

Need to shop for some CDs already ... either will do it in SIN next week or maybe wait till I get up to KL during the ICE TT weekend. Given up on CD shops in JB .... even since Tower Records closed shop here ... lagi teruk! Allen, Sheffield stuff are available in KL quite easily ... Erica34 has some good ones with him, if I'm remember his post on the "CDs" thread.

P/S - Now got Victoria Music also aah ??? All I can remember is Victoria's Secret !!! :nyehehe:

There is this shop in Ampang Park that caters for audiophiles called Love Music. Won't be disappointed.

Most of the manufacturer has reference series CDs.

Alpine also has tonne of the CDs...if you are interested.

IMHO...no point buying those manufacturer CD as they contain "junks" track like white noise disc and left right channel test....

The good thing about these manufacturer CD are they contain comments like asking you to listen out for what in the track. Other than that...might as well just get those Sheffield Lab disc or HDCD.

Dun get overboard and start buying everything "reference" series though...cos these disc contain enhanced recording and make even some shitty installation sounds decent...or worst.

And BTW...dun bother burning....you will not get the resolutions that is supose to be on the disc...tried before liao.

If you guys are coming over to SG to buy disc...I recommed you guys to check out this shop in Marina Square...dunno the name but its near the cinema on the 2nd floor. Can't miss it one...the owner has excellent taste in music...he used to work in a CD shop in Specialist Shopping Centre which has moved to Centrepoint (both in Orchard Rd)...the former use to stock up excellent selection of HSCD and reference disc...but after they moved to the new shop, the selection sucks !!

HSCD cost quite a bit here too...retails around SGD 40 bucks there about.
