Gents...Wats the situation wen there is a small leak on the gasket between the gearbox n engine.very minor. I dnt see any drastic oil reduction.my mechanic said its small n still bearable.pls advice.tqvm in advance.its japan e60

Bro,
Kata kata hikmat :

It's okla if really minor. Mine also got oil stain there, but to replace the flyweel seal alone, it involve a lot of works. If u are cerewek ppl, then have to change lo.

Anyway mine is e39.

Should not be any issue for NOW if the leak is very minimal. But the leak will get worse in due time & eventually you will have to do it. But the worse part to bear with wife's nagging when they find out their porch is stained with oil. That will drive us nuts & eventually you will get it done.....I happened to me!!!!!!!

Tq guys.the mechaniv told me that he need to dismantle the gb in order to replace the seal n advice me not for time being.i dnt have the stain at porsh yet so gonna buy sum time :)

however.eventualy i will fix.or else cnt sleep

Bro, my car also got very slight leak at the flywheel. But the small tank/sump at the bottom is leaking more. Should I change the ATF and the sump first? BTW wats the mileage on ur car? Mine is 95,000km now.

Thanks very much.

Bro...first if all...do tell wen was ur last atf change.if u have nvr change..then hot potatoe in ur hand.if u hv change it recently..n the leak is minor..ok la.
However...if u hv not done it..do bring to ur fav mech n get it checked.
Hearing wat u said..its either nvr change ur atf n the sump seal kaput or mayb its not in good seal.

I got this car 2nd hand last April bro. The previous owner had replaced ATF at around 30k km due to oil sump leak.

I got the car at 75k km and also changed the ATF, fairly decent interval change of ATF.

About 90k km start to leak di go back to mechanic and say why leak again? Last time he changed a lot of stuff when changing ATF and bill came to almost RM2k just for gearbox maintenance bro. He say last time no leak near the flywheel section so have to do up now and say will cost about RM3.5k to RM4k.

Koyak lah bro, spent almost RM22k on da car di...

Bro ... if the leak is identified at gearbox & engine interjunction .. then its flywheel -gasket kaput. The gasket is cheap.. say around 200-300. But the labour will be expensive , say around 200 or maybe more , because u get to dismantle the gearbox and re-fix. Bear in mind that u need to replace the gearbox oil again . Filter can re-use if u just change . Minyak also can put in container and re-use if u dont mind.

So if the leak is very minor . just leave it till ur next service for ATF . Then u change all this together. But , yet if u are worried about the gear oil level ... dont take the risk . Where u live bro ?
