Changed vanos seal for M52B28 yesterday. The old seals were hardened, like bottle cap ring and to a point brittle. Initial reaction, after changing was the accelerator pedal was smooth. I am keeping gear changes to be below 2.5k rpm until it has been run-in. My next oil change is about another 1.2k km away, so, I would expect better performance after oil change. For those of you who are intending to change the seal, change the valve cover gasket and the valve cover screw rubber o-ring as well. There are 15 rubber o-rings. Since already open up the valve cover gasket, it is recommended to change them. I will report from time to time, what I felt after changing the vanos seal.
