But, he's not exactly the most eloquent of car mechanics and in halting English, this is what I think he meant. The memory chip in the BMW E46 stores some information about the car. I think it even has mileage information and also stores some configuration info about the car. For instance, you can store profile of how the car re-acts everytime you lock/unlock the car, the lights in the passenger cabin will come on when you lock it.  Also, when you start your air-conditioner, you can set it to always start with circulating Internal Air or if you wish, set your profile to always start with circulated external air. Can anyone else confirm?</blockquote>
