This is the latest info on the F30's production and availability. From f30post:----------------------------------------------------------------F30 ProductionWe're able to share that the F30 3-series sedan will begin production in November 2011, shortly after the E90 3-series stops production. The F30 2012 Model Year will run until June 2012, upon which point it will switch to the 2013 Model Year.As the schedule shows, the F30 3-series will come as 328i and 335i models. The 328i will most certainly be powered by the 'N20' turbo 4-cylinder inline engine (as found in the Z4 28i, details) and the 335i by a turbo 6-cylinder inline motor. Output will be in the ballpark of 245hp and 306hp, respectively.Production will continue at BMW's Munich and Regensburg plants. The South African produced F30 328i (denoted by "SA") begins later, in February 2012.F30 SalesF30 sales are expected to begin in Europe around the time of its world public premiere at the 2011 Geneva show - in March, 2012. US sales should begin in late Spring of 2012. Usually, production starts just two or three months prior to market launch, but we assume BMW will use the four months' time between production start and market launch to build enough demo cars for their dealerships around the globe.Per SCOTT26, BMW USA will build up an inventory of E90 models so they have 3-series sedans to sell during the time between E90 EOP and the F30 market launch.Follow our complete F30 coverage @ http://www.bimmerpost.com/3-series/f30/ -------------------------------------------------So the earliest we may see it in Malaysia would be in mid next year but more likely in end of 2012 due to the expected demand from other bigger markets. More than one year to prepare the finances for those longing for that car :cool:Source:http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=543353

took from another forum , something about the 4cyl turbo engine. ....:-

In everyday driving, the N20 is noticeably more responsive, although its sound is nowhere near as alluring as that of the engine it replaces. BMW says that will be fixed on certain models, including on an updated Z4 sDrive28i, with the addition of an electronic sound generator.

electronic sound generator? ... like that can mod the sound generator to sound like a ferrari or when hit 5k rpm the sound of VTEC kicking in lol

BMW is not what it used to be ...

Happy and sad at the same time...
Happy for more power with the same handling(if not better)
Sad because we may lose the smooth acceleration & sexy I6 sound...
I mean force induction is fun, but can be tiring if i every now and then kick in like dat...
The smooth I6 may deliver the power later, but nice.
Guess we just have to embrace the changes.

Let's cross our finger and see how the F30 328i can overcome our worries.

Max torque arrives at 1200rpm. That's just a tick above idle. My bet is there's going to be almost zero kick and turbo lag, it'll just feel like a big engine.

Hm... If that's the case, it will be great. Now only the looks. Honestly, I like the E90 agressive look. Just like the F10, I like E60 more. I think F30 will be adopting the same concept but smaller version, just like mini F10. Another thing is BMW cars in the beginning of a whole new model tend to give more problem...

Save money for brand new model? Or grab a end of cycle, full equipped, countermeasured E90 325 M sport? Difficult. Let's wait and see how the new 1 looks like.

So, my E46 could be my first and last I6, I gotta enjoy it more often. I love the music. Unless I get another E90 325, which will prolong the cycle. We will see.

BMW is getting the upperhand on making a virtually lag-less turbo engine..

Tested at the Ring!

The cars before the track shots sound like diesels while the car we see on the track was probably a 335i.

i guess thats for the US market
they are not selling anything less than 328

yeah soundwise, 4cyl will never be able to replace 6cyl

new model : waiting list+wait till come out, new model bugs, no discount, more exp(cbu)
