I'm not a big fan of wails and howls (ala Ferrari, Maserati or Lamborghini styled exhaust notes) - I don't really like to announce to everyone of my impending arrival, so the timbre of the exhaust note doesn't give me a hard-on as much as some. I'm however, pretty particular about how I want my ride experience to be (shudder-free). How I want the power delivery to be (smooth, silky) and how I like the feeling of ample reserves available at my command - the N52 in its various forms & displacements can deliver that experience. It never seems to run out of breath at every-day speeds of driving, and you'll learn to appreciate just how quiet and subtle the car is, at idle. None of that shuddering or clicking over that can sometimes plague diesels or 4-potters.
