Exhaust noisy sound

Hi All especially E30 Sifus,Got my new E30 tuned and serviced etc. In general, driving is reasonably ok but don't like the sound from my car. When idling, it sounds like and old car with noisy low tone (brrrrr) from the exhaust. Talked to few mechanics and friends and they all suggested the exhaust system. So poor me went to the exhaust shop. Immediately they pointed out few leaks and cracks at the muffler and the middle thing (I believe its the catalytic converter). Recommended to change both so I eagerly did at RM7++. Disappointingly, not much improvement. Btw, its local parts but that exhaust shop told me its for E30 320i and I could see the "320i" stamp on the new muffler. I've compared my sound to other standard exhaust E30 and they sounds very much quiter than mine. So please any suggestion? Any Sifus willing to have a look at my car? The point is, I'd like to make my E30 as quite as possible. (my wife told me she could hear it from far when I come back from work).Thanks in advance,Ayek

so sorry to hear this dude,

i wouldn't suggest you not too excited to spend on your car.

do it slowly to prevent you losing so much of money.

i believe most of the e30 exhaust sounds like this. from my m40 stock exhaust also sounds prrrprrprrprr... like mis fire right ??

some of the people purposely change to high cam just becoz they like this sounds....

Thanks for the advice dude. Yes a bit frustrating not getting what I want after spending that amount of rm... but on the other hand I believe the mufflers need to be replaced anyway sooner or later due to the rust and cracks already visible there (trying to sooth myself).

Anyway I'm willing to spend a bit more if there's a proven way to make it quiet. Any suggestion? Any good muffler shop recommended? Could this be not a muffler related issue.. perhaps something to do with the engine etc?

if u are near Sunway... do drop by JFA motorsport...specialsed in exhaust and other "Turbo" stuffs... Taukei's name -> Mr Jaaffar..

did my E30 many years ago.. and even sent my current E36 for some exhaust touch up recently..
Seek him for advise and he will let you know.. who knows.. !! he might cure your problem

did u get them to check out ur exhaust manifold gasket?
mebbe its bocor?
mine kinda sounds like supercharger after a while due to a worn xhaust manifold gasket too....sigh...

come by to klang tt @ restoran mmz in bkt jelutong this friday(klang tt will be held there only for this week) and meet the sifus,they might be of help...
