Hello... Advice needed on this.... itchy to do an engine swap. Problem is, dont know whats needed. Please help. The base is an e46. So my questions are:- 1. Managed to source an e36 M3 half cut (including the manual gearbox). WIll this fit into my e46 easily? 2. What do i need to look out for in undertaking this project? Sifus... pls advice. Thank you.

No Won't fit... will be better fit in my E36 :p

But on the serious side... Alot of things to change, brakes, Master cylinders, clutch pedal, clutch cylinders, drive shaft and all those associated things.
Because your going down in spec to E36 engine the ECU needs to change and may need some mods to function depending on the year of make (if it has immobiliser or not) etc.

Thanks PD...though wouldnt a half-cut (generally) cover all those things? Except perhaps the brakes though.

Engine can fit, ECU can fit... it's the other things that may not be compatable.
Brakes I know you can put E46 on E36 so should fit, requires change of knuckle. Pedals, drive shaft etc not sure...

P.S Still think would fit better in my E36 :p

PD is right. It will not be plug and play. Reason is the electronics namely the instrument cluster and abs. You will need to use back the e36 M3 electronics system and to retrofit e36 M3 electronics system into an e46 requires lots of modification. Better to get an e46 M3 instead. I found e46 M3 for about RM40k not including freight and tax. Btw mind telling me how much is your e36 M3 ah?

Yeah... i considered an e46 M3 halfcut...there was one on ebay for sale but it wasnt RM40k...more like Rm24k or something... year 2002 or something what what the seller posted.

The e36 M3 half cut was sourced from a half-cut shop in the UK.....

Damn it... looks like it might be wiser to just buy a bigger cc udm.... "there's no replacement for displacement", eh?

Add in the taxes, shipping plus the reinforcing of the chassis (etc) to install the e46 M3, isnt worth it... already asked Ken330 since he did something similar...costing very prohibitive. Hence sticking with with the e36 option....much to PD's annoyance.....

2 bad urs, is not m54 engines if not will do RM25k . Sc and complete 330 manual box 4 ya.
