Hi just bought many bottles of mobil 1 from tesco. Having promo now rm139 only for 4L. Got both 0w40 and 5w50. Chose 5w50 in view that it might better protect vanos seal. Worried 0w40 may be too thin and coz some pressure change affecting the vanos seal. Am i wrong? Anyone tried 5w50 for out warm weather?

BTW just to update for those who are curious. I went to optimum to change my oil and do full inspection. Anyway they change oil filter, air filter and put in 7litres of my mobil 1 5w 50. Conclusion: i felt my car sluggish after the service. Not sure becoz of air filter quality or the oil problem. Felt significant power loss :( Any ideas?

5W50 is more heavy oil so that will be sluggish... but the protection is better

Yes, it will feel sluggish because you went with the 50 oil instead of your usual 40.

Ok thanks. Wa thinking the new air filter too padat dat air flow in impaired. Ok thanks. Ya I prefer protection than performance anyway. Cheers

Yes they do. Only servicing parts they allow. Other parts u cant bring

Buyers might want to check with the production dates of these oils sold at Tesco especially Mobil 1. From what was told to me by the supplier I buy from Section 8 shops, a lot 'old stock' are being pushed away at hypermarkets. And also there are imitation brands being sold. I used to buy my Mobil 1 5W40W oil at RM180 4L bottle from this shop - Bay Brothers section 8, of course then it was my Waja, but i must say, no problems, but then how do we consumers know its original? At Stuttgart Motors they are selling close RM200++.

I took the safe way and bought the BMW Oil from BA.. RM32 per 1 litre bottle. So far so good.
