Viola! When engine overheat, everything get expended beyond spec and the friction between the piston ring and cylinder wall is tremendous! Both your piston and ring will fry and the wall will end up with severe scratches and thinning of the cylinder wall, that's where the engine oil gets into the combustion chamber. Would replace piston ring help? That depends on how serious is the wear on the cylinder wall. Only god knows. Boring of cylinder wall is recommended to restore the smooth surface but many say is a waste of money because it doesn't last. I don't know.. I had similar experience and I jaga my water, 2 main water hose and minyak hitam promptly EXCEPT a leaky bypass hose under the manifold that feeds the cabin heater. All my years of maintenance attention to the car just went to the drain just because of a leaky RM20 tinny bypass hose that was never changed because its hidden under the manifold, so out of sight..... Damn! That was a Perdana.
