http://www.autocar.co.uk/blogs/autocarconfidential/archive/2011/03/01/the-mitsubishi-evo-is-no-more.aspxMitsubishi to ditch the Evo for EVsMatt PriorI’ve just spent an engaging half-hour in the company of Gayu Eusegi, Mitsubishi’s global product director.Mostly we talked about the new Global Small Concept, which will be built in Thailand and sized somewhere between a Toyota Aygo and the Colt supermini. It’ll go on UK sale in 2012, effectively replacing the Colt in the line-up.But also he told me some news, which seemed to surprise a few Mitsubishi Europe bods as much as it did me.The Lancer Evolution X, Eusegi told me, will be the last Evo. “There is still a demand [for the car],” he said, “but we must stop.” Eyebrow up.“Our influence now is EV technology,” Eusegi said, adding that the decision was a “policy change”.It seems Mitsubishi, which is going to introduce eight full electric or hybrid cars by 2015, has decided its image is about lowering CO2, not making lurid replicas of rally cars that don’t go top-level rallying any more.Eusegi said that customers would find it “easier to understand” what Mitsubishi was about if it was no longer in this motorsport-inspired market. He seemed to put the rumoured diesel hybrid Evo replacement to bed, too. So the X will be the last Evolution model? “Yes. Maybe the world can change, and maybe someday we can do a motor race by electric vehicles,” said Eusegi. “Maybe then we can enter the market again.”Until then, prepare yourselves for the end of an era.

Just today I was miffed at the sight of a Waja with the Evo 10 front...

:stupid:

I really cannot fathom what's going on in their minds la.

First Saga with Impreza nose, then Wira with Evo 10 nose... Now even the Waja wants to be an Inspira wannabe...

I believe that in the future where electric cars will be a lot cheaper than gasoline powered cars, b'cos i for one would die die prefer the grunt of a V8 powerplant....so owning a gas powered car will cost a lot more and probably they are for the upper market...who knows!

The EVOs are getting bigger and heavier throughout the years... And it's losing its competitive edge in the rally scene.. So better to retire while it still has some glory instead of going out when it's in the doldrum....

Wow, I made this observation today while reading up on the EVO line. It went from 1.1 tonnes to 1.5 tonnes in 10 generations... Quite sad to see a pedigree car ending it's line. I think it's got pedigree anyways :p

The EVO name will still be around but in hybrid form from what i've read ...

thats is the sign of inferiority complex bro..u bought something that u r not proud of..i own a gen 2 and i will never try to change it to look like other car. i'm proud of it..same goes to my bimmer..who would want to change a bimmer to look like other car..in the end you just bastardised the car..sigh..i really hated seeing those saga-wira-waja-gen2-lution. nothing to be proud about it..

..yes, and thats because most of our engines are not turboed or supercharged , as their engines are, what is whole logic why they are so 'thiny'...
