Re-cap : my 325i developed problem of engine vibration during idling after switching from V-Power to RON 97. Car sent to IA, they checked for 1 1/2 days but couldn't identify the cause (I was told), took the car back as needed to use the car and I was assured that it wasn't a life threatening problem. I was told to send the car back to them for may be 3-4 days for them to do a thorough check. Mean while I re-pump V Power & vibration became less pronounced but still noticeable. I checked the e90post forum & realised that it's not an uncommon problem and may not be fixed easily. I dreaded at the fact that I may have to live with this irritating problem for as long as I keep the car!The car then developed door lock problem, so I decided to send it to my friendly independent BMW specialist as it's a minor fuse problem. while the car was there, tried my luck & asked them to check the vibration problem. Plugged in the diagnostic machine, showed error : 1 cylinder miss-firing. Mechanic checked the plug & advised that they're not in good working condition. Had them changed, instead of re-sending it to IA although it's probably covered under BRSI.The car is now running smoothly for couple of weeks now. So, my questions are : why doesn't IA not able to identify the problem when an independent specialist can easily do so? Was it because IA rely too much on the service schedule as the plugs were not due to be changed under BSRI? Am I going back to IA as my BSRI isexpiring by end of this month?
