e60 pre LCI 525d loss power issues

Common symptoms of faulty turbo (other then no power) include:-</p><p></p><p>1)Loss of engine oil, due to the turbo leaking (caused by the seals)</p><p>2)Whining sound coming from the turbo (could be caused by the shaft or bearing)</p><p>3)excessive white smoke (a bit is normal)</p><p></p><p>If I were in you position, i would ask the mechanic how did he come the conclusion that the turbo is faulty.</p></blockquote><p></p>
