Recent damage on my E60:- 1 set of rear brake pad (ATE brand) RM190.00 1 pc of rear disc pad sensor RM65.00 1 pc of Battery GP RM450.00 1 pc of radiator cap (the rubber lining at the cover of the ori cap was broken) RM75.00 The ori BMW battery was changed although it was functioning though the cranking sound when starting engine is getting longer. Beside some of the electronic gremlins are beginning to show up eg. power window sign. So to be safe and sure, better change to a new one. The new battery was not registered. Only have to reset the date and time and re-initialise the active steering as per the manual. Other data like saved radio stations etc are all intact. No more electronic gremlins with the new battery. Only one prob remains. The active steering's fault sign ("active steering initialising...") keeps coming up, say about once in 3 engine starts. Though it will eventually disappear after about 3 min of driving, it is still pretty annoying. Went to check with a mechanic who advised me to leave my car with him so that he can bring his computer to the alignment shop to do a proper re-alignment before recommending other more expensive remedies like changing the active steering control unit or the steering angle sensor. But couldn't find time to leave my car whole day for him to test the alignment. Meanwhile have to endure the sweet and nice warning bell when the active steering sign appears to greet me.
