To all my Forumer .... lets join forces and resolve issues and not fault finding. to tri2bena, Guna and Nat, I really appreciate your feedbacks but the bottom line is, we are not here to fault anybody, even AB or BMW for that matter but rather find a solution to this problem. I luv beemers and have high regards for them but if they (BMW Malaysia) are not willing to listen to us (consumers/end users) to address this "flaw", this high performance car will only be another car and NOT a be a better machine to drive with Sheer Pleasure... Ok back to my issue....forget the warranty or the goodwill. We are talking here about design flaw. In-take manifolds is a close unit which should not be damaged unless under abnormal situation (upgrading of HP or damaged in an auto accident) it will be damaged. If my case is an isolated first case of such manner, yes I would agree and accept the total responsibility of my engine failure. After joining this forum and doing a lot of fact-findings and research, I find that this flaw surfaced way back in 2004/05, at least. Being that the case, BMW or AB should have come up with a maintenance guide or schedule and advise owners what precaution to take to keep this unit from destroying itself. That is the MANUFACTURER RESPONSIBILITY. I have asked around, a lot, and legally, I can tied up all this incidents and make BMW liable for all this mishap, especially when services are done with them from day 1. Its an issue they have known and yet we the (end user) were not inform of it and like I have mention earlier, they should have come up with some sort of maintenance guide (SOP) and schedule to all its outlet and have consumers informed of the schedule. A stitch in time saves nine. Right!! Well, so much for the in-take manifold issue. Have you guys seen the condition of my piston head? If you have, you will definitely be scratching your head and wondering, how on earth could it get that corroded. So badly corroded but the irony is, its only on piston head (the intake manifld no 6 had its butterfly flap missing but the piston head NO 5 is the one corroded and damaged!!!!) Based on feedbacks from renowned machanics, technial and machinical expertise, only the presence of a "foriegn" object in the cumbustion chamber can cause such 'indentation" to the valve head and heavy deposits on the piston head! The only logical explanation is, pieces of 'glow plug' could have been the cause of it. Being in a technically inclined company, I have been involved with technical people (Electrical, Machanical and Instrumentation) for more that 20 years and basically if I want to explain in details here, it will be too much to take and some of us might be missing some valuable points :):):):). We have standards and procedures to follow with regards to mechanical parts and we sure do know what we are talking about. Maybe one of us can initiate one TT session and my 'technical friends' and me will be more than willing to share knowledge and experience for everyone's benefits. I am still at the stage of gathering as much information as possible with regards to this 'E60 Engine' problem. Basically I need to get info from owners who had faced this problem prior to this. Hopefully I can get positive feedback from all so that I can present my findings to the Principal and have them truly acknowledge the 'flaw' in this series. Basicall, what I need are : 1. Name or Nick of E60 owners. 2. Car Model/Make/Year 3. When problems encountered. 4. Where & When (AB/BMW Outlet or local workshop) problems rectify. 5. Cost of spares and repairs (whose responsibilty/ who pay for it) I will 'forum' more later but sincerely I do hope I will get some positive feedback for all. Cheers......
