Hi Boys and girls, Been a while since I posted something here. Firstly, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Seasons greetings... I will try to keep this as simple as possible. Considering to buy a E60 523i 2006 at the moment for my Dad. Price range, around 1**k nego... Car ownership - 1 - First 5 year (MD of a company, company car full service records from AB, don't think a penny was spared). After 5 years was up, MD wanted to upgrade to A6 new. So sold this car to his Sales/BD Director 2 - Sale/BD Director had the car for a mere 1 month before passing away. (Mid last year around thereabout) So the car has been lying around in the house and the wife has been waiting for the probate in order to sell the car. Pretty much the car has been sitting in her garage for 6 months and she claims to take it out once a week to keep the car warm. What I plan to do is try to convince her to give me the car for 2 days so that I can take it to AB and have a full assessment done on it to see what are the wear/tear parts and what I envision to spend in the next 3 years or so. It would be a good report for her to keep also in the event I dont buy the car. What other things should I look out for if she is uncomfortable to give me the car to take to an Authorized BMW specialist to have a checkup? Common issues with this car? 6 speed GB? ABS? Vanos seals? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The best would be to have BMW look at the car itself but looking at 2nd options if things don't pan out as planned. I have no intention of cheating this poor widow but I also dont want to get a car for my dad that would breakdown in the next 2 months. He currently drives a E34 525i 1989 car. He loves the car to bits and has spent close to the value of the car each year over on maintenance. Just changed the waterpump for around 3k and other stuff cause the engine was overheating. Hightime to upgrade. Thanks guys.
