This morning while the car was idling I caught a few short (1-2 seconds) of squeaking coming from the engine bay which sounds like the type of squeak when belts are loose. Since the car was just idling and revs are constant, I suspect that something like the AC compressor might be going.. Anyone experienced this before on their car before something failed? Wondering what it could be. NOw the sound seems to have gone.. but its some tell tale sign I think for sure.

I've got that occasional squeak plus many other noises too (some hum at start up from somewhere in front; some creaks from the back somewhere when driving over rough surfaces). I hate them. I could never figure out where it comes from.

Nothing major broke yet despite the ocasional squeak?

I hope its not the AC compressor, as a few E46's kena already and its not cheap to fix sigh..

Nothing broken. Took it to AB but they didnt find anything wrong with it. Had to live with the noises. It irritates me even with my ACS exhaust on full song.

I dread it too! and my only solution - tune in to Hitz and Mix FM all the time and surprisingly not a hint of squeaks anymore!

did you check your rear muffer the valve in the muffler may give some noise or alternatively the the exhaust gasker may lose and this give you the noise.

sounds like your air-con compressor bearing is dying... get it checked before it totally jams up.. :(

Where to go ah to get it checked and replaced (bearings) if needed. I know AB will just change the whole AC and charge me a fat bill for it. Most workshop also will offer new, recond or potong kereta AC instead of inspecting bearings and replacing them.
