07-01-2013 FINDINGS: When engaging bottom (feet) A/C vent at above 23degC, warm air can be felt coming through the duct. However, at lower temp than 23degC, air flow is cooler but not as cool as dashboard vent. This was tested with both dashboard & bottom vent engaged, AND ONLY bottom vent engaged. Both yield same result. In some cases where the engine is not yet warmed up, this condition is not apparent. SOLUTION: Went to see the a/c expert, Naidu, to get his opinion, quotation and maybe setting up an appointment for a wkend fix if needed. Ended up fixing it there and then. Work started at around 5:45pm. 1. Replaced Receiver Dryer i.e. gas filter?- Taiwan made ($165) 2. Replaced Heater Water Valve - Bosch BMW Original ($428) 3. Flushed, Vacuumed, and refill air-cond compressor oil/gas ($140) 4. Labor ($90) Total Damage = $823 Service was fast and attentive. Not too sure whether there is any improve in air-cond flow or temperature (before service, i was pretty happy with aircond "coldness"). Have to give it a few more days to see any improvement. Bottom vent seems to be slightly better but still not as cold as dashboard vent. Overall, service is commendable but not sure whether the above recommendations were necessary.
