[QUOTE="transporter, post: 735368, member: 18641"] hello all, like to seek some help here..my E39 keys has been giving me some issue for the past months..seeking your help as i am unable to crank/start the engine. some background : i have 2 keys, the diamond shaped one. both keys few months ago does not allow me to unlock the car remotely. but the locking and boot release works fine on both keys. hence i was unlocking my car via the key hole. things i have done that may have caused the issue : 1. i have connect P.A Soft to the OBD module in the car. while performing a full system scan, the application freezes. so i restarted the PC. after that i did not try anything and proceed to point no 2 below. 2. so i thought of solving the unable to remote unlock the car issue and i went online. saw some instructions to put in the car key, switch to position 1, switch back to position 0, remove key, on the key : hold the unlock button, while holding unlock button, press the lock button 3 times. this way somewhat it will resync the key, i thought this will solve my remote unlocking problem, but it did not. worse still, i tried to start the car engine, but i realise it unable to crank, i am sure it is not the battery issue as all the on screen meters are lit and there is a sound coming from the car whenever i tried to crank (click click and various humming sound). ABS lights are lit too. when i switch back the key to position 0 and try to crank again, it did not allow me to switch to position 2 this time. it just stop at position 1. i will then need to remove the key and reinsert it again to switch to position 2 for cranking (of course this does not work everytime). 3. so after this issue encountered that unable to crank/start the engine. i decided to connect the P.A Soft module to the car and try to see some settings on the EWS section of the software. made a backup on the EWS programming menu and erase the EWS. cleared some error. tried cranking again but no luck.
