hi all, just want to know how you know when to change the suspension of your car,i just got my 318 last year,so far nothing has been done to the suspension and coil over. Another thing is that does coilover and suspension need servicing?if yes what to service?please help, thanks in advance!!

When there is oil leak than it is due to change.OEM absorber cannot be service or repair.
If you find your car is floating during highway drive than it is also due for change. Don't risk yourself for any accident.

Rm850 to Rm1000 for OEM absorbers only. U have to shop around to get the best price. For the spring u can opt for Eibach pro kit which sell around Rm1,000 to Rm1200.

so everything will cost around 2k plus?ok guys thanks for the help, anyway someone is seling KW suspension in bmw singapore forum,is KW good?anyone try b4?

KW reviews on E90 has been decent. Haven't come across a E36 with KW suspension setup yet.

Best way to find which setup you like is to gather a few friends who drive the same car as you that has different setup on their cars.

ok,the seller is selling KW coilover and absorber, everthing add up plus installation is around SGD1000,sound like a good deal, but like what you said, not much people had KW setup on their e36,so i am hesitating abit, probably will end up choosing oem,at least it is proven to be quite durable, lol. Besides that, you guys got any suggestion on what suspension system to install?what price am i looking at if i want a above average after market suspension?

One of the parts supplier in Jln Ipoh quoted me 6 months back for Sachs rear absorber for E36 @ RM160/pc. If you want OE.

Bilstein B8 Monotube + Eibach/H&R springs should set you back around RM3.5k. That's one of the most tried and tested setup and most common one around.

Ultimately it all boils down to what you're looking for. If you want comfort then you should go the OEM path. If you want slightly better performance but still want to maintain the comfort level then maybe Bilstein B8 with Eibach springs might do the trick. H&R springs tend to be stiffer compared to Eibach.

ok!thanks guys all the helpful replies, anyway if i want to replace the exisitng suspension system,do i need to change part like bushing and stuff?

yes and no. if wear, might as well change. if not, then remain as it is. your mechanic is a better person to advice u on this.

hi, im newbie in this forum.

since this is the thread for suspension question, i would like to ask mine.

im using M52B28 e36. bought it from a great owner from northern state a year back. so last week, i noted a problem at rear suspension with noise( it was like tire touching the body).as i brought it to my mechanic, he tested as the car is driven, he touched the suspension mounting back in bonet & it was vibrating quite unusual with noise.

So im in a sense to change the suspension system. rear only. because im in a tight budget. Would it affect my driving/conering/stability to chasis body if I'd like just to change the rear suspension system?

btw, im using stock suspension all four.except Hotbits for rear shock abs.with 4 rims 18" BBS RX II two piece. And i am thinking to change rear system with B8 + Eibach.

cheers mate...

Bilstein HD B6

Anyone try using Bilstein HD B6?

I heard Bilstein B6 with stock spring have a better ride then stock.

Anyone can recommend a shop selling these.

TQ

heavy duty black bilstein absorber wit standard springs, the ride is firm n comfortable,u will like it.if u can find the m tech springs..better

My brother is running KW V2's on his E36. Both ride height and damping is adjustable. So far I find it is a good compromise between comfort and performance.

How much does a set of absorber cost for E36 between Brand New, OEM & Kereta Potong?

How much does the labour cost?

I think mine has gone. I felt like the whole car in sinking at the at the right side behind and at times , i do feel like driving a boat and sometimes when i make a turn, got sounds "tik tik tik tik..."

sigh,,,
