When I got the car last month I changed all the oils incd the rear axle oil. Now the rear axle is leaking. Only notice it today when I got the tie rods done. Drops of axle oil on my porch near the rear side of the car. Does the rear axle have any gaskets etc? I hope its a quick fix. Anyone expereince such leaking?

Finally I get to access this site to see the replies.

Anyways problem solved. It was a oring . No more leaking .

My research reveals that a common cause for axle leaks is actually the axle seal which only costs about RM50. So no reason to panic.

Thanks Elwine.

yes, 4 diff seals altogether.

front seal to prop, left & right shaft seals then finally small seal for plug.

if u have a look underneath, u'll see where its coming from. If you're lucky, might just be a simple plug seal that they re-used instead of replacing on your recent oil change.

My rear axle seems to be leaking again. On 29/7, I did:-

Axle Oil RM190
O Ring RM10
Washer RM2
Stax RM4

Such a waste as my mech should have replaced the seal.

My visit to AB Pg revealed that there is a slight leak again! Arghh

Oh no, your car's ballz is leaking... :D Heh heh... kidding... Get it fixed, then put in Redline MT90 fully synthetic 75W-90 gearbox oil... about RM55-60 per quart bottle.

How many bottles do I need. I know MPower @ Ayer Itam stocks them.

Merry Christmas.

My Haynes manual says the rear differential takes in 1.7 litres of fluid, so 2 bottles are enough.
