e36 328I pulley cracked from oil filter assembly

Taikos,Need feedback on if this is common. Seems like a metal fatique on the aluminium bracket of the oil filer assembly. My own mistake was not checking out when I noticed vibration when idle two Weeks agoAny way to prevent it from happeningCheersQ

More updates.

Correction on terms. It was the tensioner bearing assembly in the picture that broke out of the bracket on the oil filter housing. Its the same housing which all alternator and other parts are connected too.

Its actually an aluminium case part with no moving parts. The bracket for some reason broke out.
My mechanic had other 328 e36 which had the same failure to that part.

Looking back i think partly the fault was mine as not experience to remember that m52 engine are famous for almost zero vibration and stable during idle. if there was a wierd vibration meaning there is something wrong.

Brand new housing will cost rm 1.4 k when checked but they dont have standby stock.
Half cut around 200 - 400.

I went on further to replace and service other nearby part.
1) service power steering oil
2) changed the Termostat housing from original plastic black bmw casing to a spanking shiny aluminium casing (Common failure to crack from plastic ones)
3) Change both belts to new continental belts (6spk and 5spk)
4) Change the vanos hose as previous one had wear on it and minor leak
5) Brand new tensioner bearing as the old one was scratched
