The throttle housing for the E34 M20 engines has two little pipes which is connected to your car's cooling system (circled in RED in attached pic). My mechanic tells me that this pipping to the cooling system is optional. You can actually install the throttle housing without the need the run the coolant pipes to these two connectors. i.e bypass the pipes all together. Car will still run fine. So just wanted to get a second opinion from all the sifu's out there. Is it true, are these cooling pipping really optional? I'm sure they were designed and put there for a reason in the first place. Anyone disconnected theirs? Well just wanted some opinions.... tks.

ehoe.... up to you.. better run without it.. it's for those -20 regions.. where the trottle body butterfly gets stuck in freezing cold..

Thanks guys, will bypass the pipes then. Less unnecessary pipes, slimmer changes of leakage in the cooling system.....

sound like no fuel to the injectors! check and change the fuel filter if you have not change them for a long time.

secondly, check the fuel pump or the fuel regulator at the fuel rail.

ehoe, as pussy has correctly explained, the pipes are for HEATING to prevent ur throttle from even jamming at open position when driving in the cold....

So they dun count as cooling pipes but more so HEATING pipes - which is not needed here......
