To open the hood (if you really have a flat and need to change the battery anyway but cannot open the hood from the outside to jump the lock). Use a long flat edge screwdriver. Look through the front grille of the car and you can locate the release catch for the hood (should be around the front left side - its the passeger side again). You can pop it out from there.
