Probably problem with the radiator cap?

My E32 also needs topping up coolant/water almost daily. :stupid:

More so after a really long distance drive in the humid weather.

you are so lucky lar. Some people have to top up every week.. :listen:

btw, check the water level once a month as a routine maintenance.

Yeah, I have to top up my radiator once in a month or so...I think the weakness for the E30/34 is there are too many weak links in the cooling which have to be looked at and fixed so the radiator is leak free. After years and years these weak links show up, and the headache begins.

Thanks for all the reviews! The E34/38 cooling system amazes me. So far my current UDM's are OK. But I do check at least once a week when I give my babies a wash. Generally top up every month about an inch worth of coolant. My previous E34, every 2 days once had to fill up and was real annoying on long trips and in traffic, when it starts to prompt "Check Coollant Level"!!!!!! Could not rectify the issue no matter how hard I tried!!!! Jap cars are the benchmark for cooling and a/c systems la...my Odyssey, one year no fill also level same like day one. Use the car almost everyday and long distance too. A/C cools the car in like 30 secs. The makers of BMW can learn a thing or two from Japanese reliability, IMHO

Bro Fandango, hope you got it sorted...

Behind the Shell & BHP Station opposite St Francis Xavier Church. Another landmark is that it is right next to the EPF building.

Thanks for the info Andrew! Should pay him a visit sometime soon. :D

How's your E38 coming along btw?

hmmm.....i only had one issue with my coolant system before, and that was because of the block. otherwise never topped up or had an overheateing problem so far. touchwood

i guess we have to be realistic as our cars are not very young. so if you wnat peace of mind, then you have to renew the weak links like the hoses etc. last thing i want is when i'm trying to smell blackhowlings smoke when he tarpau me 9 9, the car decides to overheat.

can post NAidu's workshop details?

I don't have the address but my earlier posting above should give you a good idea where it is. The main road is Jln Gasing. If you're coming from KL using the Fed Hway, take the exit after the bangsar exit and turn left. You should see the Shell station already. His workshop is behind the Shell Station. Good luck.

Naidu 0192110554. He did some work on my e38 before. Was suppose to work on my E34 and then I decided to re-wire. Must go back soon for a check up.

Turns out there was a leak at the water pump seal...hmmm...i changed it 4 years ago...it was ori bmw...but made in italy...hmm...

Well naidu advised to change the thermostat and housing as well...these were also replaced 4 years ago...upon dismantling the housing one of the screws broke and is now lodged in the cylinder head...he said it was different from the other 3...it was apparently forced in...damn....:motz:

so now the housing only has 3 screws holding it instead of 4...will have to watch it next couple of days to see if it leaks..if it leaks, will hv to remove head and get the lodged screw out...:2:

You re lucky the radiator dried up in 163 days. I've got my e34 overheated again after 3 days. Those guys in MZone Kota Damansara is now asking me to overhaul the engine after they have replaced the aircond fan, themostat, water hoses for the last three months to overcome the overheating problem. I m now looking for another bmw specialist to overcome the problem, can anyone help?

bro go see naidu - he can do a compression test to see if there're any other leaks. if there aren't, then you may have more serious problems, like a cracked or warped head.
