E30 fuel pump

Juz want to know, did the fuel pump keep on running when u switch the key to "ON" but without start the car??is it normal, or some problem?? k:

No. the fuel pump will only run for a few seconds when the ignition is first turned on (i.e. started)

the fuel pump will run constantly only if the fuel pump relay receives a signal from:

1) motronic ECU in a six potter
or
2) rpm signal from the ignition system of a 4 potter L-jet

you may have a faulty relay.

on the m20 engine,the pump runs only when the engine runs.

check relay and wiring whether short to ground ?

any problem if it keeping running like this?

Hi guys.. Since this topic is all about the fuel pump, would like to know is it normal if the fuel pump come out with sound tik.. tik... tik... really disturb my concentration on driving. I only managed to stop listening to the sounds by put on louder musik oh MAWI. Is there any other way or i have to change the fuel pump or change my e30 to other car..?

fuel pump won't go tik tik tik... u sure it's not the injector or the tappet sound from the engine?

I know my tappet got sound too but I'm 70% sure coz the sound came from under the car not from the engine.
Will be more louder and faster when press the fuel padle and stop when press the clutch padle and slow down the car.
This morning i did some adjustment on engine tuning and the sounds nearly gone.

BTW my Idle are terible b4 this and i'v open the AFM and did some cleaning and now its better. No more crazy in the morning.

B4 this the engine have no warmup in the morning, after i change my radiator water and did some tuning, on the AFM and its work the engine did warm up with higher rpm in morning start. Now i just need to fine tune to get it better.

I have another problem. After driving and stop the engine, always have to start 3 to 5 times. But if the engine is cold it take only a single start.

Any idea..?
