Bearing RACES need to be replaced also, there are 4 races pressed in the rear diff. Not all bearing suppliers include these races, make sure you get them with the bearings.there are 2 large pinion bearings that support the pinion gear shaft. this is the most stressed bearing location of the entire car, all shock loads from throttle application or lift off would transmit through these.Also there are 2 large side axel load bearings that hold the LSD unit in place.from experience all 4 bearings MUST change as set. Also, there are 4 races that need to be removed, the pinion races are difficult to remove and replace correctly-  needs special skill set (find an experience sifu, don't be a test subject).after these bearings are setup and installed you have another even more difficult issue: re-setting the gear lash spacing. This is a black art of sorts, the BMW TIS gives a detailed/technical break down on procedure, but this is really just experience.if setup right the 188mm LSD unit is strong enough for 1,000hp.
