E28 : repair or replace the sunroof ?

greetings,ok ... i own an e28 (lol ... i like to tell this to everyone)so the sunroof is actually broken according to the previous owner (my uncle). he just tell me to not use the sunroof, means not opening it at all.but i'm young and want to use the sunroof ... whats the point of having a sunroof if not using it .. right ?so i'm thinking of repairing it ... but i dont know where to bring it to (fyi i'm in northern part of malaysia, perlis).i also bump into caroz ad (in kereta mag) ... so i'm also thinking of replacing the sunroof to caroz manual version ... so i dont have to worry about the sunroof motor broken down.so what do you all sifus think ? i'm young and dont know anything about bmw e28 so please enlighten me.regards,maelzx

hmmm.....not only young pple like sunroof ler....

i think u can repair it.....there are replacement motors. first find out whether the motor working....

dun go put any other sunroof....since u have the ori on it...

Yup...fomoco is right!

First, check the motor...most of the times,these motors just need to be serviced & then u'll hv ur sunroof working...try as much as possible to keep it ori

I hv an E28 too & the times I wish I had sunroof...

Sorry,no idea of any workshops in Perlis... :dunno:

What's wrong with it ?

Is it auto or manual ?

Can it be tilted and slide ?

I hv serviced my sunroof before .. Not as simple as it looks. Esp when installing the motor. There are certain way to have it aligned. Otherwise, u will ended up with wind noise ...

since my uncle told me not to open the sunroof ... i just didnt bother to touch it until i can make sure i can repair it. most probably the problem is either the sunroof can be open but cannot closed it back or simply cannot be open at all.

i dont have any details on the exact problem ... my uncle just told me not to bother with it.

the current is i dont know any bmw specialist in kedah/perlis ... if anyone know any info please tell me.
