Dear Sifus, wanna get your views comparing the 2 models; basically whether to get an older e60 vs a newer e 90. Basically both are sedans, granted both sends a different message, put this aside, which would give the less headache and better ownership experience.Have heard alot of horror stories opp the 2 60 esp on the g/box; all our companies cars have had this problem, wondering this is limited to CKD models??Anyways..hope you guys can help....hmmmm perhaps an audi A4.....????

not sure what went wrong or but beleive there was reply from bro jerman, but seems to gone missing...

anyways looking forward to more feedback bros, thanks.

Gear- box prob? My current E60 had clocked 300+km without any gearbox issue, Minor or Major! You sure you had all these problems? If so, my best guess is that its either your regular periodic maintenance not properly adhered to or you hv been ripped by the mechanic who knows nut abt BMW transmission. Moreover BMW transmission cannot be "easily" overhaul. This is very odd indeed.

Back to your Q, for comfort E60 is still far better than its smaller cousin E90. For power and what not, depending on the type of engine, E60 still top the list (the 10 potter M5 can attest to that). For looks, E60 might not be as sporty or curvy for the taste bud of the younger generation, so E90 take that one.

So it all depends on wht you are looking for. Sporty look or comfort plus performance. Whatever the choice, rest assured its still the Ultimate Driving Machine :4:..:top:

Cheers and good luck on your choice.

I prefer GTR or R8
Thought cuntchill better, never heard any of my frens who drive one complain about gb problem or high maintenance. Hehe.

Anyway back to topic. I guess "company cars" are not well taken care of. The drivers take the rides for granted and service every 25k km.

Thanks for the replies....

so guess its leaning towards the E60.....

Bro safri mentioned, beter get post LCI - wat does this mean / wat year would this be from ?

wat about recon ones - some/ most are imported from Japan i beleive , are these ok ? better specced ?

luv the GT/ R8 too...but tink its a bit of stretch....

The E60 is good with a 3L engine...even the 525i is underwhelming, I think......Its a much bigger car so u need a bigger engine....then u also pay for the higher fuel cost, road tax etc.
U sure u are not keen on the 320d?
It is a driver's car with supreme chasis-planted like fixed with superglue when you throw it into corners, out of this world natural high when you slam it down the straights na dlaugh when at the pumps when you fill up every 800-1000kms!
Start with the 3 series, retire when u hit 70 with the 5 series.

all depends on what you want in a car...

e60 - for space, matured look, medium size sport sedan

e90 - for agility, quick, younger feel

both could handle spirited drive, just need to know how to handle the car...

e60 LCI model starts from Sept 2006...a well maintained N52 engine is the one to go for and preferably a 3.0litre one if budget permits...
