Hi guys, Just some info to share with all of you ICE kaki.. DLS knock off... http://www.dlsaustralia.com.au/english/fake_products/fake_copies.htmA buddy got hold the DLS Minifour, the Ultimate A8 which turns out to be fake. He opened up the amp and compare the circuitry to the one posted in the above website. Seller was kind enough to do full refund as he himself not too sure of the origin of the amp. Somehow the amp sounded pretty good when it was first plugged in. Iam not too sure of DLS Ultimate characteristic :confused:

Hi Neo,

Lots of these babies flying around these days. The issue fake speakers/amps while new here, has been bugging consumers in Asia for a while. The popular DLS UR6 and UR36, PS6 and even some Iridium, 6.2 component speakers and Ultimate A8 and Reference RA40 amplifiers were the main victims. In SIN for example, the fake UR6 components sets were going for SGD 500.00 or lower when the authentic Pro-Ice set were going for atleast SGD 750.00 and above.

Let's not even get started on the quality of these products - cheaper components and materials are being used and after some serious listening, you'll know you've been had. I have copies of the test results that a few friends and I carried out in terms of response curve, distortion graphs and etc of the fake UR drivers vs the real thing. Bottomline is simple - you can't expect these fakes costing almost half of the real deals to make the difference.

It's a good thing that your friend got off easy - atleast the seller had some ethics.

Cheers,
VaN.

The seller was kind enough. He not only sold to my buddy, he also sells them to a few other guys. AFAIK, he did a full refund on all. He is not to sure himself of the authenticity of the amps.

Those fake Dyn. Mk.II are going for less than half the asking price. Greed fuels these fake industry.. Sigh...

Well what can I say. If there are demand, there are supply. So to people who are using replicas (eg. bodykit, wheel, ICE and so on....) Stop buying replicas. Modify cars is all about passion, not rojak_ing.

Your friend is lucky man...

This kind of thing full of immitation...

Beware when buying guys...

Well, just take a look at the Car Audio section on Lelong.com if you still have doubts. JL Audio, Kicker, DLS, RF, Focal and now even Dynaudio, Hertz and whatever else. As Calvin said, it all boils down to simple demand and supply concept. I'd like to keep things real .... even if it means saving up for a while for the real thing.

But damn ... at this rate, I'm not so sure if even the big boys like Genesis, TRU, Sinfoni, Brax, Audison, McIntosh, Scanspeak and Zapco wud be spared. Mite just see a made in China Sinfoni or Audison with cheap internals very soon, me thinks!

Cheers,
VaN.

Van,

Can u detect the different on my DLS? Anyway I dun mind if less quality since its much cheaper coz the ori is too way expensive for me. However I'm still satisfied wt the result juz dun know how long it can last:p

For sound quality the fake and original one is bound to be different if it is from another manufacturer, however it can be the real stuff too from the same manufacturer. Why? This is because there are many unscrupulous factories out there. If a customer orders 10 containers there is usually 1 container stanby for warranty purpose. However if there is no warranty claim the factory can easily sell those off without telling its customer, often at much lower prices since it is already accounted for (basically FOC).

So basically it's original stuff at much lower prices ?...anyway to detect if its original or fake ? other than opening up the components.. ?
