Hi all,If all goes well, I'll be getting my first (not so) classic BMW this weekend. It's an E23 short-nose 728i, one of those 'childhood dream' cars. Currently off the road, but I plan to do a slow resto. Appreciate any help / advice / feedback fellow members can give.My regular rides are a Mk6 GTi and a Jazz (soon to be replaced).Dipak

E23 728i is a great car to restore. Hope you update us with pics on the progress of the restoration. All the best and welcome to the club

Welcome..welcome..

E23 is a great car!! Keep us posted on your progress of restoring a modern classic!!

Cheers :)

Welcome to the club. I wish you all the best. E23 parts are rare and difficult to source. Short nose would mean 1984 model or later with 4 Speed Auto or 5 Speed Manual.

Previously, I had a very beautiful 1981 728i 3 Speed auto & LSD. It had those high quality chrome side mirrors. These cars are very solid and I particularly enjoy listening to the "Ting" sound on the closing of the doors. It's got very generous seats and leg room too.

BMW technology was way ahead of it's rivals. OBC were already there during the E23 & E28 models.

Thanks all!

After a false start (due to personal circumstances), I actually found another car in much better shape a couple of weeks back. It needs some minor tlc, but its a great base. Even the wheels are period 15" ronals.

Pics in the showroom section here.

Welcome to the forums bro. Lovely avatar you got there. Love the way you captured the shark nose. :top:
