Wingzee, That guy is correct. If you want good results, always spray the entire bumper for optimum uniformity. If you spray only a small area, it'll look great when you collect the vehicle but after sometime, you can see an ugly mark. At that stage, very few Msian car owners will send the car to another place to respray the entire bumper. Most will just leave it alone and live with the ugly mistake. Pls get it right the first time, and you'll be a happy camper. Look at pic below. This poor guy paid $250 to repair his front bumper and wanted back the car fast:motz: (the next day - classic). But any good job will definitely not utilise pink putty. It's a cheap stuff that's easy and fast to work with.....common on cheap jobs at cheapo respray shops doing lower-end vehicles. At this 1990s price point ($250), most sprayers will not do a proper, no shortcut job. If you consider materials cost in 2013 and the time constraint imposed by car owner, doing a good job in repairing and spraying bumper for $250 is sheer lunacy. If you see any pink underneath your stone chips, its a clear indication that cheap putty has been used, and probably with no primer sprayed....indications of a cheap and fast job. For a proper no shortcut job: 1. entire bumper should be sanded down 2. damage areas repaired 3. proper putty used and allowed to dry properly (critical). 4. Primer sprayed and sanded. 5. Colour coat 6. Clearcoat (must be HS...not the cheaper MS) 7. Wet sanding and machine-compounding. Note: Flex-agent shd be added to clearcoat to increase flexibility as it'll help reduce future stone chips OR, he can use Dupont's stone chip resistant clearcoat. This kind of job will cost approx 550-700 depending on extent of damage and takes roughly 2.5 days.
