Cut throat?? Definitely. 2++ for microfilter?? that's almost 4 times normal price. Everything seems to be more than twice than the reasonable price

dats rite bro...totally agree wit u.thanx for d comments though..:top:

agree with sachseelan...what's with the little cents? same thing with labour charge....$561....$1 also want to kira ah?

hahaha... dat $1 is for d coffee served while waiting for the "butcher" to slit d throat!! hehehe..

loafer;345583 said:
Most of the prices seem pretty inflated to me. My microfilter cost me RM83 only (E36 though) and that was before the fuel hike.

dats rite bro... i think they just follow d oil hike percentage, 40% increase!!:stupid:

I've had more stuff done to my car before and I'll be damned if I ever see a labor charge that high. What sachseelan said is true, there's an increase of 20%-30% in almost everything.

maybe wat pussy said is true..they charge by d hour..

Major cutting throat I'd say. My workshop charged only RM390 for 6 litres of genuine BMW ATF fluid.
Where's this shop anyway? I think it's high time that you reveal the name so that we can collectively stay away from going there.

reveal d workshop name?? i'd luv 2 do so but i've mutual understanding wit d "victim" not 2 reveal it for d sake of his safety..hehehe...mabe d "maskman SB" will storm into his house!!!hahahaha...

ESSO LT71141 cost about RM 55-60 for 1 litre bottle, however its not widely available for the 1 litre bottle because usually they sell in 20 litre jerrycan

This is a rip off.

the normal prices outside done is much cheaper.

E46 - 318ci (2000)

RM
- GP1 inspection 132.00 - OKAY
- Gasket 48.60 - OKAY
- Rubber for Screw X 10pcs 40.80 - High side
- Gasket Housing 7.22 - okay
- O-ring x 2pcs 15.38 - high
- expansion tank 366.33 - wow
- thermostat 264.48 - high
- radiator cap 83.79 - high
- air filter 106.10 - high
- microfilter 237.95 - wow
- Esso ATF LT71141 x 6Ltrs 975.00 - super high, should be RM86.00 a liter
- Formula SLX A1 10W/30 x 4ltrs 280.00 - high, around RM49.00 a liter
- oil filter 51.79 - okay
- injection cleaner 40.00 - why do you need it ?
- windscreen cleaner 11.35 - same also ?
- spark plug H x 4pcs 326.36 - what plug is these ?
- http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21325# 51.45 - if for bottles, then okay.
- brake cleaner 43.00 - had a squeal ?
- labour charge 561.00 - presumed a oil filter gasket leak changed, gearbox flush, then it should be fine.

TOTAL HOLE in pocket:  RM3510.60

But as posted by the thread starter, it was done at BMW Authorized Center. so the time and work is based on the hours done on the car. the cents are the overall discount given.
presumed that all the parts are genuine BMW, then it's correct pricing.

regards.

thanx a lot bro... i've been waiting for ur reply since u suda kira sifu in these subject!!! hehehe...:top:

:eek::eek:

expansion tank usually cost around 260-320 in KL inclusive of radiator cap of course. I m sure u r referring to the cap attach together with the expansion tank. If so, its way too expensive and y did he charge separately? Its like selling u the oil filter without rubber gasket and asking u to buy gasket separately.

yes, you can post the names and reference of these con jobs as long as its done without malice and with the intention of helping other members/forumers.

You guys sure it is cheap. I change my expansion tank for RM255, Thermostat for RM140, oil filter for RM38, Motul fully sintetic for RM244 and BMW coolant for RM45. Mine is a 2.0 E46. Maybe its more expensive up north.

Putting inflated prices aside, IMHO to splurt out RM3k+ to bring a used car back to a decent driving condition, it's well worth it provided all the other mechanical parts such as engine, transmission, drive shaft and differential are still in immaculate condition. It's your skill to negotiate with the private seller or dealer to reduce further damage on your wallet before the final transaction goes through. When I bought my ride, the dealer agreed to replace all wear and tear parts worth almost RM8k. So it's luck.

It's a willing buyer willing seller market. If one choose to send the car to an authorised service centre, then be prepared to fork out the premium price. Otherwise, send your ride to a mechanic next door and be fearful of being parts being not genuine and service being not up to standard. We've heard a lot of horror stories but credit should be give to those mechanics who have lived up to their name so far. No matter how good a mechanic is, there is bound to be dissatisfied customers. Perhaps the customer's expectation should be reviewed at some stage.

My 2 cents.
