I think he means an M3 with M50 intake manifold... I think later M3's in the states had the single TB to keep within emissions standards.

Yeap... US M3s didn't get the individual throttle bodies... M50 intake manifold is bigger...

US spec E36 M3 is basically a bored and stroked M50TUB25 to 3.0.... and the 3.2 US spec M3 evo is bored and stroked to 3.2... Both running single throttle manifold.
