When it comes to BMW, their most recent recording efforts are simply amazing. They’ve added over 70 new trademarks to their name.

The Bavarians aren’t going to build 70 new models, but that’s still a shocking figure, especially when you consider that the majority of them are actually model names. Here are the exceptions; Rolls Royce oriented nomeclature such as Corniche, Shadow, Wraith, Cloud, Dawn. They are still model names or at least part of model names. Then there’s the new gadget and settings list which includes SportMode, CoolMode, Air Collar, BMW Turbotec, Drive eCharged, LifeDrive and i Pedelec.

A list of oddities comes in how BMW trademarked the following categories: Compactive, Compactive Tourer, Gran Tourer, Urbanic, GC, Gran Coupe, BMW Gran Coupe and, of course, 6er Gran Coupe. We know a thing or two about the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe and it is a pretty new idea but we don’t understand why there was a need to trademark the Z8 again. Most relevant to the discussion is the new list of amazing M Performance products: M35, M40, M55, M300, M350, M400, M500, M130, M135, M140, M230, M235, M240, M330, M335, M340, M430, M435, M440, M450, M550, M650, M750 and M50d.

The X2, X4 and 2 Series aren’t big surprises. Nor are the M1, M2 and
M7 which has been talked about recently. What is a surprise however is the filing for the M10.
