Hey guys, I only know 03/04 530's should come with M54 engines but if I look at the chart below, there are so many types of N52 engines for the 530. As there are many local AP's in Malaysia from year 05 onwards, how can I tell which engine is it equipped with? Is it stated in the vehicle card or i-drive or any part of the car? :stoned:N52B30 3.0 L (2996 cc/182 in³) Engine Displacement Power Torque Redline Year160 kW (218 hp) @ 6100 270 N·m (199 ft·lbf) @ 2400-4200 7000 rpm 2007190 kW (258 hp) @ 6600 300 N·m (221 ft·lbf) @ 2500-4000 7000 rpm 2004195 kW (265 hp) @ 6600 315 N·m (232 ft·lbf) @ 2750-4250 7000 rpm 2005200 kW (272 hp) @ 6650 315 N·m (232 ft·lbf) @ 2750-4250 7000 rpm 2006

According to wiki, e60 used 200 kW (272 PS,268 hp) @ 6700 rpm and 320 N•m @ 2750 rpm one

195 kW (265 hp) @ 6600 315 N·m (232 ft·lbf) @ 2750-4250 7000 rpm 2005
200 kW (272 hp) @ 6650 315 N·m (232 ft·lbf) @ 2750-4250 7000 rpm 2006

Best bet is to get the VIN of the car and get the specs from realoem.com

U can refer to :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_5_Series

the E60 petrol comes in three different engines typically:

M54 - 2004-2006
N52 - 2006-2008
N53 - 2008-2010 before the F10 was born.

best way to check which engine is via the VIN. Can't go wrong unless someone decided to blank that out which is not easy

Paultank, thanks for the info.

Our friend spoke about APs, so that includes gray imports. So the N53 identifier. I am also confused with the E60 engines. The E60 525 LCI for example comes with a 3.0 liter engine, N53!!! The E60 530 LCI comes with, guess what, 3.0 liter engine but different outputs though

Thats bmw compensating for normally aspirated torque curve and improving emissions by using oversized but detuned engine.

i got my 2009 530i from AB. In the brochure written 272bhp@6500rpm. And in the document written that the engine is N52. My question is my 530i 272bhp? How do i find out?

Another confusion from here. It says the N52B30 2006-2007 is 255 bhp as opposed to 231 bhp which we see normally. Why on earth are there so many variants?!

231bhp is for the M54B30, different engine.

Not sure if this is correct but please let me know if it's not?

530i N52B30 (06-07) = 250bhp
530i N53B30 (LCI) = 272bhp

This applies for both UK/Japan specs? Looking at AP models and not local CKD's. I would assume both standard (High specs) and M-Sport would have the same output in terms of bhp/torque?
