Most of the time, I just put the key in the pocket and touch the door handle. I believe the device is smart enough to recognize the range. Got one time, my key is inside the car, I touch the door handle. It didn't close. I wonder why and then I remember the key is not in my pocket.Luckily the range of the device is pretty sensitive.
