Those of you suffering from this may find these articles interesting reading, it's written for those switching to lightweight flywheel but also applies here: http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/flywheel/gear_rattle.htm http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/html_techtip/techtips/tranny_rattle.htm Not sure if you guys are using stock flywheel or machined/lightened ones but the M20 single-mass is relatively light to begin with, making it prone to this. Another fix may be to source an M20 flywheel from the 5 series, which is a bit heaver (8.6kg vs e30's 7.2kg) I had one of those on my ride and never had any klak klak. Basically the extra mass will damp the rattle but the engine will rev up a tad slower, though it will be smoother overall. I've since switched to a aluminum flywheel which lets me rev like a Honda but at the expense of some clacking at stoplights. I'm planning to try out the UUC recipe to see if it helps, but have not found any place locally that sells Redline NS version.
