It is quite a handy thing for a big car such as the X5. It makes it easier to turn in tight situation such as those in housing estate. And yes it helps in parking.  But the advantages of active Steering for 3 series may not be as great since the 3 series already have good turning radius and is a nimble car. The steering become more indirect at higher speed as in you need to turn the steering more to turn the car but i don't really notice this effect at highway speed. Just notice that the car rolls a lot in bends and can't hold the line at high speeds.</blockquote>
