I tinted my car this morning at Ecotint Shoppe in USJ9. Damage at RM2k, original price was suppose to be RM2.2k. However for some reason the sales rep must have got confused and though I was a returning customer therefore I advise if you are planning to tint your car, just act as if you are a returning customer. I am waiting for the tint to cure. So far so good. I disliked the fact that they do not tell you on how they will install the tint. One of the guys was halfway unscrewing the rear view mirror. Luckily I caught him on time. If he had fucked up with the electronics I doubt Ecotint will pay for the damages. In one of the forums I read a guy who sent his BMW to install some audio and got his electronics short circuit which he fixed at a cost of RM30k. So I dare not risk the warranty as it is a new car. So they cut the tint around for the rear view mirror. The downside is the heat can go through that hole. For normal cars they normally disassemble the door trims. For mine, they used brute force to pull the top part slightly out. It was painful to see the process. I think all tinted cars go through the same thing. After the tint, I got into the car. Since it is almost noon, Yes, I can still feel the UV heat. I started thinking to myself, the tint doesn’t seem to make much difference. I got myself the Ray Barrier, since Ecotint covers the warranty I had hope the tint would be more reflective or darker. However it is quite clear. The reason I chose Ecotint because it covers transfer of ownership and the sales rep is friendly. Plus the fact that they gave my discount because they thought I was a recurring customer. The back windows on the smaller window, the tint doesn’t seem to be covering too well because of the small black dots. I guess I just have to wait for the tint to cure then only I ‘ll decide if I should return to them. Also, I notice a few dust stick between the tint and some of the windows. Update #1 I am getting compliments from people how the color of the tint suits the paint of the car. It looks dark and clear. Just nice for me. When I am sitting inside, it looks so clear. Regarding the heat issue, my colleague who sat my car was amazed on how much the heat was minimized, however for me I didn't feel much difference because I hardly drive under hot sun. During lunches I follow my colleagues car. Ecotint was a good choice then again my advise is if you plan to tint your car do supervise their workmanship so they don't start disassembling your car without your permission. And watching through the process really hurts. The end result is worth it.
