Hello forumers,Warmest greetings everybody.I am a new here having just signed up after having spent a week reading thru the forum.This really seems to be a great place to share and learn.I am looking to buy an E36 318 yr97-99 if possible.I am keen to know if there is any mechanic that u guys can recommend who is willing to check out a car for me before i buy it.I am based in klang but subang / kl areas would be ok as well.What is important is an honest and reliable chap who i can also use in future for repairs/maintenance.How much would i have to pay for such an inspection ??I hope u guys can help me out.Thanks.CheersEvra

Welcome to the forum!
I would recommend WP Auto in Pandan Indah - the owner is Albert Fang - I service my E38 there and a number of members here also use him. Very knowledgeable, honest and reliable mech. No complaints
I also use Bimmer Auto in PJ Old Town - the owner is Selvan - I service my E36 there - again a very knowledgeable mech.
He also owns an E36 325 - special Edition manual - he might be selling
BTW - if you are thinking of getting an E36 i would highly recommend you go for a 328i or at minimum a 325i - there a number of well cared and maintained examples being sold on the forum by members here in the classifieds. The 318i IMO is way underpowered unless you are going for a manual version which is quite rare and price difference between the versions are minimal

I've got my e36 for a year already, if just normal fix like changing fan belt and hose, i'll send to a mechanic near my place in puchong only. else, i will send to a Ah Yau's residence near Jln Ipoh for service or fix is required, as recommended by a friend. however, it's a bit too far and i dont find him exceptionally good.
Maxu, can you provide me the contact as well for Bimmer Auto in PJ old town. is the price there reasonable? i'm looking for somewhere good and nearer to Puchong.

Any advice ?
