Buying a 523 or 525

Hi Guys,I just found a E39,523i UK specs. Asking price is RM 138K from the dealer. I am told that this is a double vanos 190hp by the shylock.I checked the chassis number WBADM42060GH76408 and it is an E39 with an M53TU engine not the 54.What do you guys think about the UK spec version?

525 is 192hp......Not 523.....

but from BMW factory testings, the 523 is 180hp and 525 is 188hp. both have wrong claims of hp for "tax" reasons in Europe, and its a marketing gimmick too.

This is very interesting figures bohtak.

I have not tried the 523 so cannot make a comparison but what about any guys out there who are using a 523 UK spec say about the hp.

one more thing.. the 525 run fly by wire technology. and there might be some advancements as well.

Got hold of an old copy of the fact sheets.
523i (M52 engine) = 168bhp/5500rpm and 245Nm/3950rpm Kerb weight 1450kg
520i (M54 engine, 2.2litre = 170bhp/6250rpm and 210Nm/3500rpm Kerb weight 1570kg
525i (M54 engine, 2494cc) = 192bhp/6000rpm and 245Nm/3500rpm
