Not sure if I read the last few messages right... BUT to be a fool and be sure, in as far as the Perf brakes for the 3 series are concerned save for the US spec 3.0 litre powerplants, the rear Bimbos are not necessary. The present stock rears more than suffices as per Physics 101. You'd all know the AD would ask for the chassis number to ensure there's a fit when parts are ordered. If there's no fit, the corresponding part is not listed for a particular vehicle. That's a safety measure. And the Bimbo rears are not listed consistent with the Perf parts list for straight sixes. And if you're like me....be a fool in order to be sure....you'd checked with very reliable sources. I checked with kiasu PML to verify and validate. They confirmed exactly what the local AD said. So I can with just cause rule out an Armageddon situation like the Vios with presumbably an obese Rambo fronts and a size zero Bimbo rears fitted. Even with the ultimate in brakes or any penultimate life sparing technology, an idiot behind a wheel or anyone running out of horoscopic luck on any particular day would meet exactly the same fate as the Vios driver. RIP. And even in the remotest of cases where the DSC is not re-coded by a AD technician, it would from my simpleton perspective be moronic again to assume that the brakes would simply fail. A brake is a brake is a brake..when applied by foot...and that's the OBC's fuzzy logic that overiddes its own programming including human stupidity to save lives when warranted. Yay! Thanks indeed for the feedbacks and contributions. All nay! or yay! perspectives welcomed.....we're all at the end of the day far much richer with knowledge of our Bimmers and understanding of ourselves... Cheers!
