Hello everyone,I am newbie here..bringing back a 320d M sport coupe, already arrived at port klang, awaiting custom clearance..Just a bit of concern, this model have BMW original sun protection glass fitted on rear windscreen and windows, just wondering if anyone knows the light penetration rate (%) for this sun protection glass (takut tak lepas puspakom nih):106:plus any advice which brand of diesel should I go for ie the cleanest diesel in MalaysiathanksView attachment 20052

What people normally do is replace the dark windows with normal ones and send to Puspakom for inspection. However this applies if yours are those super dark tinted ones and if you have a photo, it would be great :) As for diesel, all of them complies to Euro 2M but I'm not sure specifically in detail which brand is cleaner than the other. In my opinion, they should be more or less the same. In order to have cleaner fuel, the government should choose to opt for higher Euro compliance/standards. Until then, we will be stuck with dirty diesels.

If yours is a Euro spec 320d, your coupe would most likely be optimised for Euro IV or Euro V emissions, which requires ultra-low sulfur diesel.
This diesel is unfortunately not available in Malaysia since we're still on Euro II (2M specifically, "M" for Malaysia-specific specifications).
In this regard, do check if your car is equipped with a diesel particulate filter (DPF).
Locally supplied, Malaysian-spec BMW diesels have this filter omitted since our high-sulfur diesel will clog the filter in no time.

Doesn't look bad, it's definitely not at the same level as the privacy glass in JDM models. You do have the option of swapping it as already mentioned here.

to be on the safe side, swap it first then replace.thats how the JDM e.g. Alphard,Estima does it.
VLT penetration acceptable is >70% for Front W/Screen and >50% all around.
unless of course u know someone who so happen to have a measuring machine to make sure yours adhere as per above.
then no need to worry lah.

Hmm wonder which BMW specialist in KL to do the window-swap-replace for puspakom purposes and how much does it cost..

Sure kena tahan at Puspakom. Few ways..

1. replace it
2. swap with a friend.. I don't mine swapping with u but too bad mine is not a coupe.. :(
3. don't forget u in Boleh land..

If I were u, I take option 3.. :32:

wow what a super rare car...

not only is it a LCI E92, its also a Msport AND a diesel....holy trinity. But imo, your car is gonna choke on our crappy dinosaur muck they call 2M

I salute you for having the gall to bring in an unacclimatised UK diesel model. Get a booking to have the DPF removed immediately else your electronics will go bonkers with error codes

haha.. yes, the DPF (diesel particulate filter) will clog up and suffocate your car when running the local diesel.. :1:

Removing the DPF should be done at BMW or independent workshops with specific experience with BMW diesels.

FYA, when removing the DPF, not only must the filter be removed, but the car's DPF regeneration cycle needs to be cancelled as well. This cycle injects diesel directly into the exhaust manifold to initiate a controlled burn of the diesel soot that's caught by the DPF.

So the ECU needs to be reprogrammed to stop the regen cycle, otherwise you'll be getting plumes of grey smoke from your exhaust everytime the ECU triggers a regen cycle.

Thanks all for the useful information, much appreciated!! will try to get pass puspakom first then will do the DPF.. any experienced independent workshop in KL to recommend for DPF removal (appreciate if could PM me their number)?

Definitely need to "rent" the clear windscreens to pass the Puspakom test. Should cost RM450 or there abouts. Mine had the sun protection glass as well, and it failed the Puspakom test.

I didn't dare bring a diesel car from UK to M'sia. Hope it works out for you.

what about the rear windscreen? Can we swap the rear windscreen as well..?

Working with glass has certain inherent risk, more so when the glass is glued tightly. No glass installer dare guarantee no breakage.. To answer your question, yes, it can be done but no promise of work.
