The gist of the differences above are correct. If you desire more specifcs search this forum as it has been discussed before. All m30 powered e32 and e34s will have a b35 and 6/87 up 635csi will also have a b35. Depending on the application there will be different mount bosses on the block. The only application that will directly bolt in with 100% certainty is the e24 variant. It has been said that early e32 m30b35s have the correct bosses, but you will need to confirm.
