The new BMW 6 Series model released in the year 2003 was built based on the BMW E64 platform and BMW Motor Corporation is still continuing its production till date. The vehicle is available in both the 2-door coupe and 2-door convertible models.The available engines to the model include 3.0 liter I6, 4.8 liter V8 and the 3.0 liter I6 diesel engines. The vehicle provides both the 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. The 6 series models were released to fill up the gap that occurred due to the end of 8 series production.
