BMW is currently developing a new diesel engine, which is preparing to break existing patterns in terms of power and consumption. Bavarians want for some time, a tri-turbo unit capable to compete with V8 engines of the other German manufacturers. It seems that the development process goes well and the premium manufacturer plans to launch the tri-turbo diesel in the autumn of next year at the Motor Show in Frankfurt. Currently we know about the new engine that would be a unit with 3.0 liter and six-cylinder.Such a version three turbochargers would develop a total of 354 horsepower and an impressive torque: over 700 Nm. With this baggage of power, BMW will be able to withstand some V8 engines from Audi and Mercedes. Tri-turbo engine will be mated to an automatic gearbox with eight reports, developed by BMW together with specialists from ZF, currently found in Bavarians range on the new 5-Series GT.There will be also the Efficient Dynamics technology, regenerative force brake and start-stop.
