Hi guys,

It has been a few months since we introduced this service to some of our customers and feedback has been good.
Hence, we are officially introducing this service to the rest of you.

As the title suggest, what are we doing is stripping the cracked/flaked off insulation and recoating it with layers of liquid electrical tape. Upon curing, the liquid electrical tape forms an airtight, protective, waterproof, UV resistant, dielectric coating, ie a new skin for your wiring.

Given the weather and average age of cars in Singapore, most cars driven in Singapore have worn out wiring insulation.
With that, the naked wiring tends to touch each other, resulting in shorting and spoilage of lights and other electrical components.

This new service that we are offering is an alternative to replacing the headlight sets or other components.
With the liquid E tape, we are able to reach deeper and further where traditional heat shrink or taping can't reach.
In addition, given the renewed skin when layering is properly and adequately carried out, the wiring will be a more lasting solution.

The charges of the Liquid E tape services varies, depending on the severity of the wiring problem and time needed.
For each job, we do at least 3 layers and in between each layer, we require 10-15 min of drying. Hence, jobs will need at least 1-2 hrs and very severe jobs requiring more time.

Before we carry out the Liquid E tape services, we would carry out a preliminary test and diagnostics on the health of the wiring and what is the exact problem and areas requiring Liquid E taping. Thereafter, we will quote you guys accordingly. You guys are free to decide whether to proceed with it or do away with it.

We will be sharing with u guys more of the recent jobs we have done and some of the common wiring problem you will encounter.

Meanwhile, here's an example of the Liquid E Tape that we have done for our Ipad wiring.

1) Noticed the black portion that we have Liquid E taped.
2) For the 2nd pic, we are holding the recoated portion and the ipad is actually charging.
ie, the coating is totally complete and safe, with no electricity electrocuting us or our hand.

Liquid E Tape Services- Bro Joseph Neo BMW E60 Pre-fl

Year/Make: BMW E60 523i, 2007
Problem: AE Ring light and High Beam (Passenger side) not working
Diagnosis: Even though wires have been wrapped with heat shrink, the ends where the wires meet are exposed and touching, resulting in shorting and no light.
Treatment: Liquid E Tape on the 3 wires
Result: AE Ring light and High Beam (Passenger side) back to working condition

Liquid E Tape Services- Bro BC BMW E93 Pre-fl

Year/Make: BMW E93 325i, 2008
Problem: AE LED light not working
Diagnosis: Exposed wiring shorting, leading to AE LED Marker shorting and spoiling
Treatment: Liquid E Tape on the 2 wires
Result: Replaced new AE LED marker and reinsulated AE wiring for prevention of further short-circuiting.

NB. Pls note that if AE wiring are not properly insulated and shorting, it will lead to most ae lighting components shorting and spoilage ranging from few weeks to few months. So if damaged AE led marker or bulb is changed but exposed wiring not addressed, the problem will occur again.

Preventive Spotting

In some of our upcoming posts, we will be sharing with your how to spot potential wiring problems before it get worse, shorting up lights and other electrical components. These are common problems that we have encountered on many rides we have done which most of you would have no idea of, cos not many of you work up close with vehicles that often.

With the car aging, wear n tear and given the hot weather in Singapore, our wiring usually starts cracking and peeling after 4-5 years. The rubber insulation will flake off without any of you noticing it cos its all hidden in the headlight set and only time when u guys really take notice is when your lights start to go bonkers.

For today, we will share with you our observation on the BMW E60lci.
We will start on the AE wiring.
In the following picture, you will notice the cable tie when we have circled in yellow.
It is a standard item on all E60lci, all your AE wiring are held together by this little black cable tie.
With time, the wiring insulation rots and what's left are the badly exposed wires held together by this cable tie.
Holding 2 naked wires together at such close proximity usually leads to shorting.
Your lights don't die instantly but its something like a slow death.
If not addressed, whatever new lights put inside will have the same problem and given the further deterioration of the wiring insulation, the lights will probably die at a faster rate. Worst case scenario would be the shorting of other electrical components such as the FRM etc.

Here's a repost of a video we made earlier back in Apr 2015 on how exposed wiring affects your lights lifespan and possibly other electrical components.
