Firstly get the latest software update. I noticed this when I was using a newer E90 courtesy car and found that when you use auto wiper, when you increase the sensitivity the wiper goes faster. There is still a slight delay as the system takes a bit of time to adapt. My 2005 car has been updated and I now have the same functionality. Though at times, it doesn't seem to work exactly how you want it especially when it is dark outside. In fact when it's raining at night, you need to increase the sensitivity just to get the wiper to work in auto better.This is just my 2 cents observation.
